Lamman's new movie, N-Secure finally gets a release date! It's about time. It's been in the making forever. The movie was filmed nearly 2 years ago in Memphis and will be released nationwide on Friday, October 15th, 2010, according to the film's official Twitter and Facebook pages.

N-Secure is a no holds-barred thrilling drama mixed with murder, mayhem and manipulation among affluent professionals. This film sheds light on a man's downfall from the pinnacles of success into the depths of his damaged character. His insecurities lead him into a series of troubled romantic relationships and eventually a web of events that include betrayal and murder.

The film also stars newcomer Cordell Moore in his first-starring role, Nephew Tommy (from The Steve Harvey Morning Show), Essence Atkins (Are We There Yet?), Lamman's on-screen wife Denise Boutte (Meet the Browns), BernNadette Stanis (of Good Times fame), Tempestt Bledsoe (from The Cosby Show), Elise Neal and others.

Looks good, right? Can't wait to see Lamman's performance in this movie. He said unlike his other roles, he doesn't play the nice guy in this movie. I think his fans are beyond ready to see him in a more challenging role.

As a big fan (however, not as big a fan as FamuDiva!) of Lamman Rucker's, I have read many, many interviews about him, including q-and-a interviews and the interviewers always seem to ask him the same things over and over again. So imagine my surprise when I flipped opened a Sister 2 Sister magazine (September issue) and finally read a Lamman Rucker interview where he shared some of the most intimate details about his life. Details I never knew about. I know! I was shocked too!

Lamman sat down with Jamie Foster Brown of Sister 2 Sister and gave an in-depth interview on how he dealt with the pain and anger of losing his baby brother to gun violence in the streets of Pittsburgh back in 1992. And of course no Lamman Rucker interview would be complete without him giving his two cents on us females and what he expects from his significant other. After reading his interview, I swear I found a new respect for this man. I might have to reinstate my crush on him. That's a big might. For those who don't know (or don't read my Lamman posts on the regular) I had to cancel my crush on dude a few years ago after I had a dream about him...and in that dream he didn't even want me. Yeah, I know when I'm not wanted. LOL! Nah, but seriously, Lamman ain't playing when it comes to knowing exactly what he wants in a woman.

LAMMAN ON HIS BROTHER'S DEATH: 'My brother was killed in 1992. I think about [him] everyday. He was 19. His name is Chanu Rucker. He was very, very talented--incredible football player. There's no reason why to this day he wouldn't be playing on Sundays. Luckily he's got a beautiful little girl who's doing very well. She's in college right now. It hurts my heart all the time to think about all the things that he didn't even have the opportunity to become. The guy that we think was responsible for his murder was also murdered. So it's just a dumbass ridiculous cycle. In a distorted kind of way there are certain times I've almost felt like he was one of the best things that could have happened to me, personally, selfishly. Now, it's a huge loss to me and my family. I talk about him and think of him all the time and I can't just begin to articulate how much I miss him. I also know of the choices that I had at the time. And trust me, I consider one of them in particular, which was dropping everything I was doing. I was in school at the time, just hunting the streets, and I almost found myself in the life that he was in. I honestly was almost in a place where I could have very easily just gone downhill from there. I had to realize "Why would you do that when that's exactly where we lost him?" And I understood, even though it was unfair that there was a lot more expected of me because now I'm the only boy left. And then I thought about my sister. My father moved away. Now, my brother's gone. Now, I;m going to put my mother and my sister in a position for me to be gone too? It just didn't make any sense to put my family through that.

Sometimes I'm afraid that if my brother had still been here...There's a couple of men that, to this day are alive only because my brother is dead, because I would have definitely taken the altercation to a whole 'nother level. And it would have been a tragic end for at least one of us, most likely them, had I not had the self-control to say, "You know what? Let me chill. Let me back up off of this" [because] his had no idea how close he got to be being ripped from this planet. But I'm just going to just go on my way because I got a bigger fish to fry. I got goals. I got a family to make proud of me. I got a God that's looking after me. So I just felt like I listened to my spirit. I didn't let these little macho games and all that kind of stuff overpower me. I listened to the good voices, not the evil voices.'

LAMMAN ON HIS STANDARDS FOR WOMEN: 'My standards for a woman are very high. That means if you step this way, you better come correct because if you can't have an intelligent conversation, if you don't have any self-esteem, I'm going to come off like I'm a wolf or I'm arrogant and you ain't going to be able to keep up. What I need to know is if you can really handle it. If you can really really handle it or if I know you're working on learning how to cope with it, alright, cool. I'm going to give it to you. But if you can't handle it, you're not encouraging me to be with honest with you.'

Actor Lamman Rucker has a few words for the brothers in his interview with Krave magazine. Lamman credits his father, Eric and his uncle Stephen as his mentors, but he says some of his best mentors are his own peers. Lamman believes men should uplift, support and sustain one another. The actor touched on a variety of topics including his opinion on why black men shouldn't let their pants sag! Check out excerpts from his interview below.

Lamman on why education is important for black males: Education has been taken for granted so often when it comes to black males. Not necessarily by brothers, but often times by the status quo who expect us to fail. We have to grow beyond our expected limitations and excel to take advantage of every opportunity afforded to us.

Lamman on why black males should surround themselves with positive people: If you are surrounded by individuals who are not in the best interest of your greater good, you may have to love them from a distance or know when it is time to cut your losses and move on.

Lamman on fashion and brothers who "sag": Real style is about you expressing you, not someone else. Use fashion as an extension of your own personal style. Clothes are meant to FIT your body type! Sometimes I just want to go up to brother and say, pull your pants up--sometimes I have. You don't have to wear what everybody else is wearing; make a statement with your own style and let people see the true you. Have the courage to stand out and sometimes dress in the opposite direction your boys are going.

Lamman on how black men can be better for women: We have to put in our work, to understand the needs of that particular woman. But you have to also put in the time to discover who you are and first start off by bringing a woman into your life who best complements who you already are. If you put the work in, she will appreciate it and you will find she is even more attracted to you regardless of your looks or economic status.

Do I see a book deal in his future? Maybe an advice column in Essence magazine? And a Lamman post wouldn't be complete without some eye candy to gawk at, right?

Why Did I Get Married Too? stars Lamman Rucker, Malik Yoba and Michael Jai White hit up the Essence magazine offices last week to promote the film which opened at number 2 last weekend behind the Clash of the Titans. Lamman reached out to his fans through his Twitter page to thank them for making WDIGMToo a success.

Hey ladies, ever wondered what type of fragrance Lamman prefers on a lady? Or what type of fragrance he finds sexy or a turn off? Well, the actor dished those details and a little bit more to Essence. Check out the Q&A below.

Essence: How do you like your lady friends to smell?
Lamman: I like a woman who smells and tastes delicious. I definitely don't like heavy, old lady scents.

Essence: What scents do you find to be sexy?
Lamman: Something soft, somewhat natural, that makes me want to sit closer....

Essence: What scents turn you off?
Lamman: Funkiness and blandness. I can't do bland with food, women or fragrance.

Essence: Any fragrances take you down memory lane?
Lamman: My grandmother's house always had a fresh and minty aroma. Maybe that's why I love cool, clean scents.

As for Lamman's top picks? For him he prefers Thierry Mugler Angel SunEssence Blue Lagoon Edition. For her, his choice is Estee Lauder Sensous Collector's Edition. And for him and her, his number one pick happens to be Diptyque L'Eau de Tarocco.

And for those of you who follow me on Twitter, you know that Lamman launched his new natural beauty skin and body care line for women and couples called Forplai. He unveiled the line at Koffee Day Spa in Dallas, Texas during NBA ALl-Star Weekend. In an interview with AOL's BV Buzz columnist Jawn Murray, Lamman said, "My ultimate goal for the line is for it to be a brand that women and couples use regularly and integrate into their daily routine of body care, health and wellness. The true vision behind Forplai is for it to be a tool that encourages people to have purity, passion, peace and power in their lives. Forplai is about self-love, intimacy and positive affirmation."

In that same interview, Lamman also opened up about his appearance on the first episode of Let's Talk About Pep alongside longtime friend and confidante Jacque Reid. Their conversation in regards to Lamman possibly becoming a sperm donor for Jacque had the blogosphere on fire! Lamman says his full statement to her was left on the cutting room floor.

"The conversation she and I had was edited. It wasn't ever really a 'negotiation' for it to be specifically mine. As a close friend, I told her I'd be 'open to the conversation,' meaning that I wouldn't turn my back on her and would discuss that option and other options as it relates to her wanting a child. She is a beautiful, intelligent, successful sista who will be a great mother someday. Who wouldn't consider her?"

Check out Lamman Rucker in the new off-Broadway production of Black Angels over Tuskegee. It opened last month in New York City and is based on true events of six men who explored their collective struggle with Jim Crow, their intelligence, patriotism, dreams of an inclusive fair society, and brotherhood as they become the first African American fighter pilots in the U.S. Army Air Forces. Black Angels Over Tuskegee goes beyond the headlines of the popular stories of the Tuskegee Airmen and exposes the men who exhibited the courage to excel in spite of all the overwhelming odds against them.

Those featured in the cast alongside Lamman include Demetrius Gross, Thom Scott II, Antonio Charity, Layon Gray, David Wendell Boykins, Derek Shaun, Jay Jones, and Rich Skidmore. In addition to being an official selection of the 2009 National Black Theater Festival, the play recently won a 2009 NAACP Award for Best Ensemble and a 2009 Artistic Director Achievement Award for Best Play.

Last night my girl and one of my most loyal readers from the very beginning, FamuDiva sent me a link to watch the full season premiere episode of Pepa's Let's Talk About Pep that airs tonight at 10:30 on VH1. I knew that if Diva was sending me a link, it would have to have something to do with Lamman Rucker because that's the only time she really emails me! And it did! Lamman makes a guest appearance on the show. At first, the purpose of his appearance threw me for a loop, I must say. When I watched the trailer last week, Jaque (Reid) confessed she'd never had an orgasm. See, VH1 editors chopped and screwed it to make it look as if Lamman was Jacque Reid's ex-boyfriend. Hearing this had me giving Lamman a serious ass side-eye and Jacque a 'girlfriend-you-have-my-deepest-sympathy' look! Then I watched the entire episode. Evidently, Jacque's biological clock is ticking and she seems to be in a rush to have a baby...but she doesn't have a man. She tells Pep that her ob/gyn suggested she ask an ex-boyfriend to father a child with her. That's where Lamman comes in....or so I thought. Once you watch the premiere episode, you'll know what I'm talking about. I don't want to spoil it for those who haven't watched, but for those who did, you have to admit that Jacque and Lamman are totally capable of producing a beautiful child together! Will Lamman take Jackie up on her offer? I guess only time will tell. It would definitely be a good look! Bless their hearts. Who knew these two had a history together? I remember seeing a picture of them together at the B.E.T. awards several years ago, but I didn't think anything of it.

Anyway, I'm loving this show! So much so, I have already scheduled to record weekly on my DVR because the first episode is that good! Pep's friend Ms. Kitty (she was the voice for BET's Cita's World years ago) is my favorite! What I like most about this show is that it focuses on the love lives of Pep and her friends. It kinda has that Sex In the City feel to it....but with black women.

Anywho, FamuDiva was kind enough to send me her very own screen-caps (and there were a lot of them) from Lamman's appearance. And for those of you who are familiar with Diva and her fascination with Lamman, you also know that in her email she also included how she felt about the whole thing, but I don't have the time to post all of that! Besides, I'm pretty sure she'll make her feelings known in the comments section once she sees this post (that I was supposed to published this morning...but I digress. Better late than never, right?) But I can say that as a journalist, she continues to look up to Jacque the same way she (as well as myself) did when we were in college.

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE hearing from and receiving positive and negative feedback and requests from my readers. Her email just screamed excitement! LOL! I just had to post this feature. I also had to admit to her the fact that I had never heard of him because when it comes to Tyler's male leads, there's just so many, and after a while I stop trying to figure out who's who and just enjoy the view. So I told her to send me some background info and pictures (how gorgeous is this man?) on Mike and I would make sure to feature him on Black Celebrity Men because he is definitely up and coming. I said the same thing about Lamman Rucker 3 years ago on my other blog and now everybody and their mama (including mine) love themselves some Sheriff Troy! But I digress.

Mike (real name Christian Michael Storm), 33, is a rock solid 6 foot 2, 220 pounds of pure African-American/Indian ancestry. Born in Ohio and now living in New Jersey, Mike wears many hats but he is probably better known in the entertainment industry and among his biggest fans as the trifling, insecure Ronnie from Tyler's hit stage play Madea's Family Reunion. However, acting isn't his only forte. Mike is also a model who has appeared in dozens of national print ads and television commercials for major corporations such as Proctor & Gamble, Delta Airlines, Nike and Adidas. He has also been a body double for Deion Sanders. Mike's other straight-to-dvd acting credits include Get Right or Get Left, Our Father, Who You Gonna Serve? and I Used to be a Church Girl. According to his number one fan, Mr. Storm is also a screen writer as well as singer. He's currently working on his debut album.

Lamman Rucker sat down with Essence.com in June to talk about his role as 'Will' on Tyler Perry's Meet the Browns sitcom as well as his character 'Sheriff Troy' on Perry's Why Did I Get Married Too. And as usual, he was asked about the status of his personal life...which he happily answered. So unless his relationship status has changed in the last four months, chances are you die-hard fans will be satisfied with his answer.

ESSENCE.COM: What do you have in common with your married doctor character Will?
LAMMAN RUCKER: A lot of things. He is the first in [the Brown family] to have an advanced degree. I know what a challenge that can be and the dynamic of being one of the people in your family who has had the privilege to go off to school. He's really down to earth, has a great sense of humor and is very giving and supportive in his relationships. All of that I can relate to.

ESSENCE.COM: You're reuniting with the cast for the sequel to Why Did I Get Married? as Sheriff Troy. What can fans expect from you this time?
RUCKER: I've seen a draft of the script and everyone is going to love this one! We're filming this summer and it is a very interesting snapshot into marriage. The whole cast is returning and the film takes place a couple years down the line. When it comes to marriage and relationships, there is always a new adventure. Sheriff Troy will show an interesting side of himself and people will see his layers. Why Did I Get Married? did so well because it gave some real perspective on the realities of love.

ESSENCE.COM: Does playing these married men have this Do Right Man ready to settle down?
RUCKER: (Laughs.) I'm taking my time on all of that and the application process is still open. When I am ready it will take a woman who knows who she is. Many women are so wounded that they can't love another person. I need a woman who is secure and loves herself first. Then she can share that love and light with me.

Okay ladies, I have another Laz Alonso photoshoot for you all and this time it's better and sexier (at least in my opinion) than the last one. I had never received so many emails on any man I have featured on Black Celebrity Men (well, Lamman comes in at a close second) more than I have on Laz! The ladies love themselves some Laz...and looking at him, I can definitely understand why! Well, I have some good news for some of you. Unless he has hooked up with someone within the past two and a half months, Laz is very single and very available...at least according to a recent online interview I read. And yes, I'm late reporting it because I haven't updated this blog in a minute, but that's my bad. Now, if you're a true Laz Alonso fan, you'll melt once you read what he said. The article was mostly about his education, career and what it's like being a Latino living the Black experience. Well, just as sure as my name is SouthernGurl, I skipped through all of that mumbo-jumbo because 1.) I knew most of that information already; and 2.) I knew my readers would only be interested in knowing what's going on in his personal life. Some of yall are so nosy! LOL! Anyhoo, check out the excerpt I pulled from the interview.

LiveSteez: Oh come on! We have to know! Are you single?

Laz: Yes I am single. I've been single since 07.

LiveSteez: Why?

Laz: Well, [pause] um, I'm the type of dude that doesn't want a girlfriend unless I'm madly in love with her. If I'm in a relationship with a woman that I'm not madly in love with, then she's not going to get the Laz that I can give. She's just going to get a diluted version. If I'm not one hundred percent completely in it and head over heels, then I'd rather be single and just wait until I get smashed over the head with that feeling again. I'm not going to be in a relationship for the sake of being in one, you know? When I'm in an intimate relationship, I'm either all in or all out. I don't do half way. That's unfair.

LiveSteez: Hmm, quality vs. quantity for you then?

Laz: Oh, absolutely. When I'm in a relationship or have a girlfriend, she's my best friend. I want to do everything with her. If I'm out having fun without her, I'm mad that she's not there. When I find my other half, that's literally what they are, a part of me and vice versa. I know instantly when I have it, too. I've only felt that way a few times and it's like a tidal wave. I would never not give that to somebody and call myself their man. That, to me, is just a waste of their time and mine.

House of Payne's Lance Gross and Meet the Brown's Denise Boutte were featured in a fashion photospread in the latest issue of Monarch magazine. When I first saw these pictures, they threw me for a loop and for a second I began to think that Lance had joined the cast of Meet the Browns. I guess I was expecting to see either Lance and (his television wife) Keisha Knight Pulliam together in this spread or either Denise and (her television husband) Lamman Rucker. Would've made sense, right? But on the other hand, having Lance and Denise pose together promotes both shows. Nevertheless, the photos turned out absolutely beautiful! I have another photoshoot of Lance that I will post in the near future.

And for the record and to those who has asked me if she and Lamman are dating in real life, to that I say: Denise has been happily married to her husband Kevin Boutte since 2003!

Nearly a month ago, my 'big sister' Nikki dragged me and my sister to see Tyler Perry's stageplay The Marriage Counselor at the Tallahassee Civic Center. I griped to my sister about attending because no matter how many times I tried to sit and watch a Tyler Perry screenplay, I'd always seem to lose interest once someone broke out into song! Something about someone holding a conversation then all of a sudden breaking out into a song freaked me out. I also never seemed to get past those gaudy stage sets. So when I decided to attend Tyler's play, I made sure to pack at least 2 books and 3 magazines to read once those people started singing. We get to the venue, go to our seats which were waaaaaaaaay up at the very top. I'm a little over five feet tall and I swear I could have touched the concrete beams above me if I stretched far enough!! I became a bit perturbed because although the folks on the stage looked like ants from where I was sitting, the section we were in was also very dim.... which meant I wouldn't be able to read my books and mags once the singing started. So I'm sitting there like, 'Seriously, Jesus?! For real? This is how You gonna do me?' I guess He got mad at me for questioning Him because the next thing I knew, some girl and her date came and sat in the seats next to me. Five seconds later, all I hear is 'CRUNCH, CRUNCH, CRUNCH, SLURP, SLURP, SLURP, CRUNCH, CRUNNNCH, CRUUUUUUNCH!' This heffa and her man both going to town on some damn nachos and sodas! Eventually, the lights go down and show starts. Long story short, I LOVED it! Like I said before, I could barely see the actors, but their performances were so full of energy, I felt as if I had no other choice but to sit back and enjoy the show. I honestly don't remember laughing my ass off the way I did that night. I didn't want the show to end. Actor Palmer Williams, Jr. (who also co-stars on Tyler's House of Payne sitcom): I will never look at him the same again. He gained a new hardcore fan that night in Tallahassee. Timon Kyle Durrett. Yes, sir! The Marriage Counselor marks his stageplay debut. He has also had roles on Girlfriends, CSI NY, CSI Miami, Las Vegas and Heroes (thanks for the added info, Cherry. I had no idea). He gained a new fan in me too....and then some! Eye candy like you wouldn't believe is what he is. Yall might want to keep an eye on him. I see him doing big things in the near future. If you look at my banner on the homepage, he's the guy in between The Rock and Idris Elba. Fine, ain't he? Told ya. Needless to say, I never once reached in my purse to pull out a magazine or book! I told Nikki, 'We have to see this play again!'

That brings me to another reason as to why I started this site. I noticed Tyler cast the most fineness men in his films and plays: Terrell Carter, Lamman Rucker, Christian Keys, Boris Kodjoe, Allen Payne, Henry Simmons, Shemar Moore, Michael Jai White, Richard T. Jones, the aforementioned Timon Kyle Durrett, Blair Underwood, Rick Fox and Lance Gross....just to name a few. Then it hit me. A blog which features nothing but black male celebrities. There's BlackCelebKids.com, a website dedicated to the offspring of black celebrities. There's also a website which celebrates the beauty, style and accomplishments of Black and Brown women in Hollywood; and Pigskin Loving Lady, a blog which features only Black NFL players.

Before launching BlackCelebrityMen, I searched the web high and low in hopes of finding a website dedicated to our Black men in the entertainment and sports industry and came up with nothing. My first thought was to only shed light on the media's sexiest black men. Then I thought to myself, 'That's not fair. What if JoJo (of K-Ci & JoJo) fall and bust his ass again? Or what if 50-leven year old Flavor Flav scores another buffoonery of a reality show? Or Kanye West throws another bitch-fit over the pettiest thing just because he feels the urge to?' Surely I'd be remiss if I didn't acknowledge those events!

All of the explanations above are my primary reasons for creating this blog. Actors, pro athletes, singers, rappers, authors, up-and-coming authors...if they're black men in the the media industry...even the has-beens and the D-list, chances are sooner or later you'll find a post about them here. So take a look around. Hopefully, you'll like what you see and come back for more; and please don't hesitate to tell me what you think of the site. I'm open to any suggestions you all may have that will make this a better blog. Also, I'm still working on adding more blog links as well as a better looking banner for the site as well as an official logo.
