Remember actor Tommy Mikal Ford who played Tommy 'ain't-got-no-job' Strawn on Martin?

Click link below to find out what he looks like now and if he's still jobless!

Here he is attending a celebrity roast honoring actress Marla Gibbs and actor Hal Williams last week in Culver City, California.

After gathering information on what he's been up to lately, I came to the conclusion that the only thing Tommy has in common with the character he played is his first name. The actor has held a handful of jobs since the hit show went off the air back in 1996 and he's also added several more job titles to his resume, including author and motivational speaker. And don't think he's some washed-up has-been because you haven't seen him on television, in any movies or on the red carpet. Tommy is handling his business in more important areas. Since serving as the Pope of Comedy on Bill Bellamy's Who's Got Jokes comedy competition show, he has successfully launched BE STILL AND KNOW, INC., a nonprofit organization dedicated to building better communities for youth. He serves as its founder and president. In an effort to spread his message of encouragement and empowerment to children, youth and adults alike, he travels as a speaker motivating and mesmerizing audiences in America and abroad.

His love and passion for children and youth led him to author a series of children’s books designed to provide healthy, spiritual and positive principles for daily living. Tommy has authored more than twelve storybooks, and activity/coloring books for children. This man is serious about his business!

He hasn't given up acting though. He's featured in what will probably be a straight-to-dvd movie called Hollywont (read the synopsis here). Other b.c.m.'s starring in the movie include Eddie Griffin, Jason Weaver and Shawn Stockman of Boyz II Men. He can also be seen in the stage play Crazy Love.

Below are pics of Tommy reading to the youth. Tommy luv the kids!

Thank you Heavenly Father! I was so scared I was going to read that he was somewhere doped up and homeless. Whew! I never knew this side of Tommy. Book and foundations and working with kids. He's definitely making a difference in children's lives.

We need to read about more stories like these about celebrities especially the ones we ain't seen in a long time.
